North American Traffic and Awards Net

NET PREAMBLE

NOTE: NCS may paraphrase or adjust the following as circumstances warrant!

NET CONTROL SHOULD OPEN THE NET AS EARLY AS PRACTICAL BUT NOT BEFORE 0000Z. YOU SHOULD BE READY TO OPEN THE NET AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER THE GROUP ON 7183 SIGNS OFF. REGARDLESS, DO NOT HOLD THE NET BEYOND 0000Z!

Calling the North American Traffic and Awards Net. This is < your call>, your net control this evening. My name is  _________ and I am located in the state of ____________ .

The purpose of this net is to handle message traffic as part of the ARRL National Traffic System.  In addition this net provides the opportunity for all amateur radio operators to make contacts to earn various awards including those sponsored by this net. This net maintains a website at WWW.NATANET.INFO  where you can find out about the net and our FREE awards program. You can also stay  informed about net activities at our website.

We welcome you to join us both on the air and via our NATA Live! Web App at natanet dot info slash live.

This is <your call>. Are there any stations with written emergency, priority, or time-sensitive traffic?

[Pause to listen, ask for relays before proceeding!]
Are there any stations wishing to make announcements or with questions before we begin?
[Pause to listen, ask for relays before proceeding!]

We respectfully ask all net participants to upload log entries to Logbook of the World as many participants are actively seeking awards which require LOTW or EQSL entries. We also encourage you to exchange QSL cards and we have a QSL bureau to assist you with this. Complete information may be found on our website. We welcome all amateurs however we will not acknowledge those who choose to not follow FCC regulations.

This is ______ with the North American Traffic and Awards Net.

Check ins please call now.   Check ins.

Take check ins for a reasonable amount of time remembering we only have about 1 hour to complete a list at least once,  and take check-ins on our online chat and also stop occasionally for further check ins. Relays may be used to further check ins.

This is ________ Let's get started! Everyone gets two calls this round.

(take added check ins occasionally)

=========END OF ROUND SCRIPT===========

That ends our first round, This is __________ net control station for the North American Traffic and Awards net. Do we have any stations that would like to check in at this time?

(listen for check-in and repeat as needed)

We have approximately _____ minutes remaining in this net.

At approx. 30 min left,  run the list one call each for this second round. Take check ins about half way thru the list, and then no further check ins if you are running short of time thereafter.

If time is extremely short, instead of a second round 1 call, do a lightning round where no up for grabs is allowed  and make one quick call, one attempt, and skipping any one on the List who does not answer after the 2nd or 3rd attempt to alert them of their turn.

Alternately, if time is about up, you can ask for last calls and take a list and run them until 01:00 zulu in which time , you must end the net. ( a minute or two may be alright, but we cannot make a habit of running overtime)
