Resolving nLog Logger Connectivity Issues
SOLUTION #1 - DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE LATEST UPDATE!!! We have changed servers for hosting nLog live logging. Go to www.alpinesoft.com/files/nlogUpdate5004.exe and download and run this file. At the end you will be asked if you want to run INIFIXER. You must leave the "Run INIFIXER" option checked and click OK.
SOLUTION #2 - Do #1 above AND the following steps to configure your firewall to allow nLog to pass through:
By default, Windows Firewall is turned on in all Windows operating systems. This procedure will resolve the following issues:
-
Unable to see nets on line listing/Program displays message “No Nets in Progress”
-
Error "cannot create file Nets\NATA 40m SSB ….[date stamp]” (or similar)
The issue is a matter of nLog Logger not being allowed to pass bi-directionally through Windows Firewall. To correct this problem, please follow this procedure:
-
Click STARTSelect CONTROL PANEL
-
Open SECURITY CENTER
-
Open WINDOWS FIREWALL (For XP – go to bottom of window, double click on WINDOWS FIREWALL. For Vista – click on WINDOWS FIREWALL on left side of panel then click “Allow a Program through Windows Firewall.” Windows 7 should have a similar arrangement as Windows Vista.)
-
Click ADD PROGRAM buttonScroll down and double click nLog Logger. (note that nLogLogger will now appear in the allowed programs list)
-
Click ADD PROGRAM button againScroll down and double click nLog Viewer. (verify that both nLog Logger and nLog Viewer are now listed)
-
Click APPLY or OK
-
Close all windows, restart your computer and start nLog Logger.
You should now see net listings! You can, alternatively completely turn off Windows Firewall, but I do NOT recommend this.
